These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of knownonprofit.org (the "Site") and any programs, events, mentorship opportunities, communications, donation features, or services provided by Keys To Navigating Our World ("KNOW") (collectively, the "Services").

By accessing or using the Site or Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or Services.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing the Site or using any Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be effective when posted on the Site with a revised "Effective Date." Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site on your own.

If you are under 18, you may only use the Site or participate in certain Services with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian, where required or appropriate.

KNOW's programs may include youth-focused services, but our Site is not directed to children under 13.

3. Permitted Use of the Site

You may use the Site and Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You agree not to use the Site or Services:

  • In any way that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • To exploit, harm, or attempt to exploit or harm minors in any way

  • To impersonate KNOW, a KNOW representative, another participant, or any other person or entity
  • To interfere with the security or operation of the Site
  • To submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • To send spam, solicitations, or unauthorized promotional communications through or to the Site

4. Prohibited Activities

You may not:

  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access or collect data from the Site without permission
  • Attempt to bypass or defeat security, access controls, or restrictions
  • Upload or transmit malware, viruses, or harmful code
  • Use the Site to collect personal information about others without consent
  • Remove copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices from the Site content

We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action, including restricting access to the Site.

5. User Submissions

  • Your Submissions are accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • You have the right to provide the content
  • Your Submissions do not violate the law or infringe the rights of others
  • You grant KNOW a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use your Submissions as reasonably necessary to operate and improve our Services (for example: responding to your request, administering programs, maintaining records, or analyzing feedback).

6. Accounts (If Applicable)

If the Site or Services allow you to create an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account

You must notify us immediately if you believe your account has been compromised.

7. Programs, Events, and Mentorship Services

KNOW offers community-based programs, mentorship opportunities, events, and educational initiatives.

You understand and agree that:

  • Participation may be subject to additional eligibility requirements
  • Program availability may vary and may be limited by capacity
  • Participation may require additional forms, waivers, or consent documents
  • KNOW may modify, pause, reschedule, or discontinue any program at any time
  • KNOW may refuse participation or remove individuals from a program if necessary for safety, community wellbeing, or policy enforcement
  • KNOW does not guarantee outcomes or results from participation in mentorship or educational programming
  • We may update, modify, or discontinue parts of the Site or Services at any time without prior notice

Keys To Navigating Our World is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Donations made to KNOW are voluntary. Donations are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or in cases of error or unauthorized use.

Tax Deductibility

Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. KNOW may provide donation receipts for your records. You are responsible for consulting your tax advisor regarding deductibility.

Payment Processing

Donations made through the Site may be processed by third-party payment processors (such as Stripe). KNOW does not store your full payment card information.

Authorization

You represent and warrant that you are authorized to use the payment method submitted.

We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, or reverse a donation if we suspect fraud, unauthorized activity, or illegal transactions.

9. Intellectual Property

The Site and its content—including text, graphics, logos, artwork, photographs, videos, designs, materials, and software—are owned by KNOW or used with permission and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may view and use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes only.

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, or modify Site content without prior written consent
  • Use KNOW's name, logo, or branding without written permission
  • Use Site content for commercial purposes without authorization

10. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites or platforms. KNOW is not responsible for the content, security, or privacy practices of third parties. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Site and Services are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KNOW disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy, reliability, or availability of the Site or Services

We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KNOW and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, partners, affiliates, agents, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to:

  • Participation in any program, mentorship, or event

If liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, KNOW's total liability will be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless KNOW and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your misuse of the Site or Services
  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights
  • Your Submissions or conduct connected to the Site or Services

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site or Services at any time, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if it is necessary to protect KNOW, participants, or the public.

Sections intended to survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will remain in effect.

15. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and the parties consent to personal jurisdiction and venue in those courts.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

17. Waiver

Failure by KNOW to enforce any right or provision in these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of KNOW.
